Report: Companies plan to add 1,541 workers in next three years

Area employers plan on adding 1,541 workers and investing $112 million in the next three years, a Northwest Arkansas Council report shows.

The council and area chambers of commerce released the Employer Retention and Expansion survey this morning. Representatives from the Bentonville/Bella Vista, Fayetteville, Rogers-Lowell, Siloam Spring and Springdale chambers conducted 487 interviews last year for the report.

The report also shows 21 percent of participating companies have expansion plans.

Part of the study, now in its third year, is to identify challenges. A need for workers of all levels, especially technical and skilled trades, and public transit and transportation infrastructure topped the list

Respondents pointed to a shortage of workers at all levels, especially technical and skilled trades, and transportation infrastructure as area needs.
