Alicia Collins, Tontitown's recorder-treasurer, pleaded not guilty Friday to felony theft of property and theft of services charges in Washington County Circuit Court. She was given a May 11 trial date.

Collins, 32, was arrested in February after investigators closed City Hall to search accounting records.

Collins is accused of stealing money from payments to the city's Water and Sewer Department. Investigators recorded $100 bills into the public works cash drawer. One of them was cashed for change, and several other weren't deposited in the city's bank account, according to court documents.

The investigation began after the state Legislative Joint Auditing Committee found money missing. Investigators found more than $25,000 missing between Jan. 1, 2013 and Feb. 12.
