Adams' big night enough for ATU

ARKANSAS TECH 96, HENDERSON STATE 84

Fatima Adams scored 35 points on 14-of-28 shooting from the floor to lead Arkansas Tech past Henderson State 96-84 Thursday in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tournament at Bruin Fieldhouse in Bartlesville, Okla.

The Golden Suns (22-5) shot 49 percent (38 of 78) from the floor as a team and 86 percent (18 of 21) from the free-throw line. Arkansas Tech outrebounded Henderson State 46-31, including a 21-11 advantage in offensive rebounds, and turned 14 Reddies turnovers into 21 second-chance points.

Arkansas Tech also held a 62-32 advantage in points in the lane.

That offset 44 points from Henderson State's Jasmine Settles, who was 14 of 22 from the floor while setting a tournament record, including 9 of 13 from behind the three-point line. Dulincia Keener added 19 points for the Reddies (10-17).

Jacinda Myers-Sanders scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Golden Suns, while Anissa Pounds had 17 points and Katrina Hayden added 13.

Arkansas Tech will face No. 3 seed Southeastern Oklahoma State at noon today.

HARDING 80, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 48

Correy Moyer scored 16 points to lead a Harding (22-6) past Southern Arkansas (9-19).

Lundon Williams scored 15 points for the Bisons, who shot 49 percent (24 of 49) from the floor and 55 percent (12 of 22) from the three-point line. Arielle Saunders had 12 points and A'ndrea Haney added 11 for Harding, which held a 42-26 rebounding advantage and got 38 points off the bench.

Rosa Bryant led Southern Arkansas with 11 points.

Harding advances to face the winner of Thursday's final game between East Central (Okla.) and Arkansas-Monticello today in the semifinals
