3 victims identified in Missouri slayings

Police on Saturday identified three victims of a mass shooting in Tyrone, Mo., on Thursday night that resulted in eight deaths, including that of the gunman.

The three victims identified Saturday were Darrell Dean Shriver, 68; Carey Dean Shriver, 46; and Valirea Love Shriver, 44.

Carey and Valirea Shriver were married, according to a news release from James Sigman, sheriff of Texas County, Mo. Darrell Shriver was Carey Shriver's father, according to the release.

A 67-year-old woman survived the shooting and is recovering, Sigman said.

Joseph Jesse Aldridge, 36, of Tyrone was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the shooting rampage about 60 miles from the Arkansas line that killed seven people, including two of his cousins and their wives.

Those victims, identified by police Friday, were Garold Dee Aldridge, 52; his wife, Julie Ann Aldridge, 47; Harold Wayne Aldridge, 50; and his wife, Janell Arlisa Aldridge, 48, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The shootings began after Joseph Aldridge's mother died. The death of Alice L. Aldridge, 74, appeared to be "of natural causes," according to a news release Friday. A postmortem examination was to be performed on the body of Alice Aldridge on Saturday.

The shooting was reported at 10:15 p.m. Thursday. The Texas County sheriff's office requested assistance from the Highway Patrol after a girl called saying she was in a house and heard gunshots.

She fled to a neighbor's house and called police, according to a news release.

All of the victims' residences are within a 3-mile radius in Tyrone, an unincorporated community of about 50 residents.

Joseph Aldridge was found dead before dawn Friday in a running pickup in the middle of the highway in neighboring Shannon County, the victim of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

Police said Aldridge used a .45-caliber handgun during the shootings.
