Death at racetrack said unsuspicious

WEST MEMPHIS -- Authorities sent the body of a 43-year-old woman found Tuesday in her car on the Southland Park parking lot to the state Crime Laboratory, but authorities don't think her death was the result of foul play, West Memphis Police Chief Donald Oakes said Wednesday.

Police responded to a call at the gaming and greyhound racing park at 1550 Ingram Blvd. at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Ken Mitchell said in a news release. Officers found the dead woman inside her vehicle.

Oakes said Wednesday that security cameras at the park recorded the car from the time it arrived to when police found the woman and showed that no one approached the car at any time.

Cameras inside Southland Park also showed the woman entering and playing a few games before leaving, the police chief said.

The Crime Laboratory will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, Oakes said.

Police did not release the woman's name Wednesday.
