Police: Sex offender injected girl with meth

TEXARKANA — An Arkansas sex offender faces 40 felony charges after authorities say he repeatedly injected a teenage girl with methamphetamine.

Miller County prosecutors charged 33-year-old Lonnie Lunsford Jr. with 40 counts of introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another. He is being held at the Miller County jail.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that Texarkana police say Lunsford in 2014 began giving the 16-year-old girl meth intravenously at his Texarkana home. They say the victim told officers that she received injections from Lunsford until sometime in February.

Prosecutors say they want to enhance Lunsford's punishment range because of his prior convictions.

It's unclear whether Lunsford has an attorney. The county sheriff's office didn't immediately return a request for comment.
