PB slaying draws 25-year sentence

PINE BLUFF -- A Pine Bluff man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and one count of committing a terroristic act in the 2013 shooting death of Carol Baker, 54, of Pine Bluff.

According to the Jefferson County prosecuting attorney's office, Samuel Kimmons, 27, was sentenced to 25 years in prison Wednesday for his role in the crime.

As part of the plea agreement, the initial charge of first-degree murder was reduced to second-degree murder, prosecutors said. Due to prior convictions, Kimmons will not be eligible for parole and will serve the entirety of his sentence, according to the prosecutor's office.
