Trent Tyrone Smith, 40, fled Arkansas after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving him early Thursday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office released few details about the altercation, but court filings state Smith attacked his estranged wife, Christina, with a shovel and threatened to kill her before crashing a vehicle into her home. Christina Smith and her daughter were inside the residence, an affidavit says.

Trent Smith was wanted on a charge of domestic battery, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, four counts of aggravated assault and two counts of terroristic threatening when authorities in Hart County, Ky., reportedly found him driving a red Dodge Dart late in the afternoon.

Smith drove at speeds faster than 120 mph on Interstate 65 near Munfordville while trying to elude local police and the Kentucky State Police, according to the sheriff's office. He avoided two spike strips before a police officer stopped him using a vehicle immobilization maneuver.

No injuries were reported.

Kentucky authorities reported Smith tried to strike with his vehicle two state troopers who were on foot, for which he was charged with two additional counts of attempted murder.

Smith also was charged with numerous traffic violations, including reckless driving and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.

Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright said in a news release that Smith will face charges in Kentucky before being extradited to Arkansas.

Smith was booked in the Hardin County, Ky., jail at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the jail's website. He was being held without bond.
