HOT SPOTS

BEAVER TAILWATER Trout are biting on light terminal tackle with various Power Baits. A few crappie were caught using gold and silver one-fourth ounce spoons. Walleye are still being coming in with a few young males being caught on floating Rapalas. Try trolling early in the morning or late in the evening.

LAKE CONWAY The water is slightly stained. Bass fishing is excellent along the edges of the lily pads. Bream fishing is excellent. A lot of catfish are being caught. Crappie are biting fairly well.

DEGRAY LAKE Bass fishing is fair mostly in the early mornings. Quite a few surface feeding fish are off the rocky points along the south side between markers 6 and 2. Throw a surface lure or three-inch swim bait. Some fish also are coming on Texas- and Carolina-rigged worms and lizards at mid-lake on both main lake and secondary points in big coves. A lot of white bass are mixed in with the hybrids. Bream fishing is good with lots of nice catches coming shallow and at 10-15 feet deep. Look for fish on points in big coves with some cover. Try crickets and redworms fished under a float in shallow water and tight-lined in the deeper water. A few catfish are showing on noodles and trotlines at night. Hot dogs, chicken liver, Catfish Charlie or night crawlers have worked well. Live bream or big minnows are bringing in bigger catfish.

WHITE OAK LAKE Fishing has been good on the upper lake. Bass are biting early in the mornings and late in the evenings on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, Flukes and brush-hogs. Bream are spawning and biting very well on worms and crickets. Catfish are being caught on trotlines using live bait and catfish baits, and tight lining along the banks using worms, catfish baits, and crickets.

WHITE RIVER The water is high, with five to six generators running, and there is a lot of fog coming off the cold discharge. Trout fishing is excellent, but with the higher flow there hasn’t been much wading available. Power Bait, worms, corn, marshmallows and practically anything else anglers put on a hook will work.
