3 accidents leave 3 drivers dead

A 71-year-old man died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash 4 miles north of McCrory on Thursday, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Larry Novosad of McCrory was driving a 2006 Chevrolet southbound on Arkansas 37 about 6:51 p.m, according to a state police report. A tire on his vehicle blew, causing him to lose control and drive off the road. The truck overturned and landed in a ditch on the west side of the highway.

Novosad was taken to White County Hospital in Searcy.

Road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Also Saturday, the state police reported that a man died Friday in a two-vehicle crash near Marion.

Edward Weatherall, 72, of Memphis was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 when he entered a northbound exit ramp going the wrong direction from East Service Road about 4:18 p.m. He then tried to turn onto Interstate 55 and was hit by a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. The other driver, whom state police did not identify, was not injured.

The road conditions were dry and clear, police said.

On Friday, a Greenville, Miss., man died in a three-vehicle accident involving two U-Haul trucks, according to a report.

Ralph Jones, 59, was driving a 2006 Ford west on U.S. 82 east of Lake Village in Chicot County when he crossed the centerline about 4:45 p.m., striking one eastbound U-Haul truck. Jones' Ford then spun into another eastbound U-Haul traveling behind the first.

One other person was injured in the crash but was not identified in the report.

According to state police, it was raining at the time of the crash.
