Police want to question inmate in death of Springdale woman

SPRINGDALE -- Police hope a felon at the Washington County Detention Center will give them information about the shooting death of a woman last month, Lt. Shane Pegram said Wednesday.

Antoine Jackson, 28, was arrested last month in Little Rock in connection with absconding from parole and misdemeanor offenses, Pegram said. He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on May 30.

Jackson may have information about the death of Emily Nash, who was found shot May 27 at 802 W. Bailey Ave. in Springdale. Nash's family had been looking for her for at least 24 hours, friends said previously.

Police announced May 29 after preliminary autopsy results the shooting would be investigated as a homicide.

Police are looking to interview several other people besides Jackson who knew Nash, Pegram said.

Jackson lived with Nash prior to her death, Pegram said. He has declined to make any statements to police, he said.

Jackson was an inmate at the Arkansas Department of Correction, starting in 2008, and was paroled July 5, according to state records available online. His criminal history includes aggravated assault and manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, records show.

Jackson was being held at the detention center with a $2,205 bond on a misdemeanor offense and holds from Springdale and Rogers district courts Wednesday.

He was out of prison on parole at the time Nash died, according to state and county jail records.

The investigation into Nash's death is ongoing, Pegram said. Police are waiting for completed autopsy results from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, he said.
