BENTONVILLE -- A Garfield woman was placed on probation for three years after she admitted she was responsible for leaving threatening messages at two schools.
Samantha Overstreet, 19, pleaded guilty Monday to communicating a false alarm and first-degree terroristic threatening, both Class D felonies. She pleaded guilty under a plea agreement attorney Jay Saxton reached with Tyler Williams, deputy prosecutor.
Overstreet was arrested April 1, 2014, in connection with a threatening message written on a girl's restroom wall at Bentonville High School, according to court documents. The message relayed a threat to bring a gun to school and shoot people. Overstreet was expelled.
She was arrested a second time March 13. That arrest concerned a bomb threat at Rogers High School.
The bomb threat was found in a bathroom at the school Jan. 23. The note stated, "Over the weekend I'm going to make a bomb and bring it on Monday, bombing the school on Monday!" according to court documents.
Overstreet admitted to a Rogers police detective she wrote the note, according to court documents.
Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement.
Overstreet was placed on state-supervised probation under Act 346. That means the case can be expunged if Overstreet successfully completes probation.
She must complete 75 days in the Benton County Work Program and pay $1,870 in court costs.
Green also ordered Overstreet to be evaluated at Ozark Guidance for alcohol, substance abuse and mental health issues.
