Kensett alderman's court date moved

SEARCY -- The court appearance for a Kensett alderman and his wife on an animal cruelty charge has been postponed because the 17th Judicial District Prosecutor's Office is "collecting more evidence," according to Deputy Prosecutor Leila Seigrist.

The Daily Citizen reports Seigrist asked for the stay, while Alderman Don Fuller said he requested to keep his court date. District Judge Mark Pate declined Fuller's request and rescheduled the date for Sept. 22 in White County District Court-Searcy Division.

The Fullers were issued a citation by the White County Sheriff's Office for misdemeanor animal cruelty in April. The citation resulted from an animal cruelty investigation by the Kensett Police Department turned over to the Sheriff's Office. The couple pleaded not guilty to the charge in May.
