Benefit concert

at winery tonight

The Tontitown Winery is hosting a benefit concert to raise donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The local trio, Whiskey Grin, will entertain with a medley of blues, Southern rock, country, pop and alternative music.

Wine, local beer and Wine-A-Rita will be available for purchase. Catering provided by IDK? Cafe will include cheese, salami, hummus, crackers and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase.

The winery does not allow any outside drinks to be brought in as a requirement of their alcohol license.

The benefit concert will be from 7-11 p.m. tonight.

Housed in a 1917 home, The Tontitown Winery makes wines on-site, from locally grown grapes. There is a history room which highlights the traditions of the Italians who grew grapes and made and founded Tontitown. A free wine tasting is also offered daily.

Regular hours of operation are noon-5 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The Tontitown Winery is located at 335 N. Barrington Road in Springdale.

Downtown Springdale gets hard apple cider brewery

Black Apple Crossing, Arkansas's first alcoholic cidery, will be holding its grand opening Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Located at 321 E. Emma Ave. in downtown Springdale, the cidery's hours are 5-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Fayetteville specialty shop restocks best sellers

The gourmet olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop located at the corner of Spring Street and College Avenue in Fayetteville received a new shipment to stock their shelves this week.

Owner Dave Beatty said that he is excited to announce the rearrival of the Italian extra virgin olive oil from Umbria, which has a high antioxidant value and the Serrano chile honey balsamic vinegar, which is prepared in small, artisan batches in the Pacific Northwest by a fourth-generation family producer.

Other varietals delivered include garlic chili olive oil, lemon olive oil, jalapeno olive oil, strawberry fig balsamic vinegar, pomegranate balsamic vinegar, mango balsamic vinegar and coconut balsamic vinegar.

The store is also a specialty gift shop with a wide selection of locally produced goods and unique finds.

Owner of Meiji opens

gourmet Chinese restaurant

Darwin Beyer, who owns Meiji Japanese Cuisine, has embarked on another endeavor with the opening of San Lio, a fine dining restaurant serving authentic Chinese cuisine. Located in the former 36 Club on the corner of Campball Avenue and Dickson Street, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

Beyer has partnered with Noy Phoumivong, according to the food blog nwaeats.com, to prepare authentic Chinese fare with locally grown ingredients. The menu boasts house-made dumplings, rice and noodle dishes, lightly fried appetizers, vegetables and small plates and larger, sharable entrees including Crispy Drunken Chicken, Seared Diver Scallops and Dry-Aged Mongolian Filet.

Specialty teas by Savoy Tea are offered in hot and iced varieties and desserts include macarons, dark chocolate spiced panna cotta and a bruleed egg custard tart.

Raising Cane's

opens in two weeks

Raising Cane's is hosting a grand opening with their doors opening at 10 a.m. on Aug. 6. The Louisiana-based chain has a menu centered around chicken finger meals. The limited menu provides means to serve "exceptionally high-quality product served quickly and conveniently," according to their website.

A Facebook event post announced that the first 10 customers in line will win free Cane's for a year and the first 100 customers will receive a commemorative Fayetteville Cane's t-shirt and a free box combo to be used on their next visit.
