Rev Room gets Mystikal; track goes disco

Rapper Mystikal will perform at 10 p.m. Friday at the Rev Room. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the show and $50 for "VIP," which includes meet and greet, access to VIP lounge, a private waitress and plush seating.

Mystikal, 44, born Michael Tyler in New Orleans, launched his career in 1994 with his debut Mystikal. He followed that with six albums, the latest of which, Original, came out earlier this year and is his first release in 14 years, following various criminal prosecutions.

Kyle Park will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 the day of the show.

An "Indie Summer Jam" will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, featuring Kinto Soldado, Iwrek, 5:40, Brutha Mac, Charmz and D-Ray.

Admission is $10.

The Salty Dogs will head for the Ouachita Mountains to perform in Mount Ida at 7 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the courthouse.

The Little Rock band seldom ventures outside its local stamping grounds, so drummer Bart Angel says he is looking forward to a scenic road trip. Other members are guitarist Nick Devlin, bassist Brent LaBeau and lead singer/guitarist Brad Williams.

Formed in 2003, the group released the albums The Salty Dogs and Friends in 2004, Autoharpoon in 2007, Brand New Reason in 2009, and its latest, Too Old to Fight, in March 2014.

Admission is free. Chairs or blankets are suggested and there will be food and drink sold from concession trailers.

Jacob Powell, a country singer, will perform at 9 p.m. today at Juanita's. Admission is $10.

Pop singers Lee Dewyze and Leslie Dinicola will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Dewyze was the winner of the ninth season of American Idol in May 2010 and Dinicola, a New York singer-songwriter, has been compared with Janis Joplin and Alison Krauss.

Tickets are $17 general admission or $50 for "VIP," which includes early entry, a meet-and-greet/photo opportunity with Dewzye and a two-song sound-check performance.

"NoshadeSundays," a patio party, will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday outdoors on the patio and will feature beats by Nick Hudson. Admission is free before 7 p.m. A dress code has the suggestion of "relaxed upscale party attire."

Inside the club, Lany, Brothers & Company and Alan Thomas will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8.

KC & the Sunshine Band will bring back its disco-era hit songs for a show at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oaklawn in Hot Springs. Tickets are $55 and $40.

KC (Harry Wayne Casey) formed his dance band in Florida in 1973 and racked up the No. 1 singles "Get Down Tonight," "That's the Way (I Like It)," "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man" and "Please Don't Go" between 1975 and 1979.

KC retired in 1985 but re-emerged in 1991 when disco music surfaced again.
