Bird dog training seminar set

Members of the Arkansas-Louisiana National Shoot To Retrieve Association will hold a free bird dog training seminar from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Camp Robinson Special Use Area pavilion near Conway.

The group also will provide information about pointing dog field trials.

The Arkansas-Louisiana chapter of the National Shoot To Retrieve Assoc., was formed in 1987. It has 85 members in Arkansas and holds field trials in Beebe, Lavaca, Melbourne and Monticello.

Seminar organizer Robert Franks said the trials are geared to hunters that hunt over dogs on foot.

“We’re not professional field trialers, and it’s a family atmosphere,” Franks said.

Registration is required. For more information call Glenn Cumbie at (479) 461-5509 or Franks at (870) 946-6291.
