ROGERS — Officials broke ground on the $17.5 million renovation of the 264-acre Lake Atalanta Park during a ceremony Wednesday.

“Our design was to take manmade hands out of the setting as much as possible and return it back to nature,” Greg Hines, mayor, said during the ceremony.

The park will include 10 miles of hiking and bike trails, a bike park, dog park, concrete walking trails, a boardwalk, fishing peers and new playground equipment once complete. The project is expected to be complete in 18 months.
