BEAVER LAKE

It’s that hot time of year when fishing for all species is best early, late or at night.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said striped bass fishing is good at sunrise near Point 5. Use top-water lures at first light or troll with brood minnows or shad later in the morning.

Walleye are biting minnows or a nightcrawlers rig trolled behind a bottom bouncer. The best fishing is over flats 10 to 25 feet deep.

Catfish are biting jug lines baited with sunfish. Black bass fishing is slow.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said catfish are biting well on blood bait. Bluegill fishing is good with worms in flooded areas.

BEAVER TAILWATER

Drift fishing in a boat is the way to catch trout, said Nancy Rose at the Beaver Dam Store. Best baits are worms or yellow Power Bait. Trout Magnets are the top lure. The top flies are Clouser minnows and woolly buggers.

Lake Fayetteville

Dolly Black at Lake Fayetteville boat dock said black bass are biting plastic worms or top-water lures early. Bluegill are biting crickets and worms.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah bait shop said catfish are biting liver, shad or sunfish. Black bass are biting spinner baits, crank baits and top-water lures early.

Bob Winkleman has caught several big crappie fishing with minnows 8 feet deep at the edge of the channel.

LAKE ELMDALE

Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat said Cody Rollins of Minnesota caught a 7-pound largemouth bass Tuesday on a white spinner bait. Catfish are biting cut bait. Crappie are biting black/chartreuse jigs 7 feet deep.

BELLA VISTA

Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass are biting plastic worms rigged Carolina or shakey-head style. Fish along points or steep banks.

Bluegill are biting crickets or worms 12 to 15 feet deep. Catfish are biting liver, worms or shrimp.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports fair crappie fishing at Grand Lake with minnows or jigs 10 feet dee around docks and structure.
