Bills OL coach arrested

Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer was arrested Sunday in Florida after shoving a boy to the ground and punching him, authorities said. The Walton County sheriff's office said the dispute arose after Kromer and his son confronted three boys about their use of beach chairs while fishing near their home. In a statement, the sheriff's office said Kromer grabbed the boys' fishing pole and threw it in the water before assaulting one boy. Kromer, 48, was taken into custody just before 2 a.m. Sunday and released on bond about an hour later, jail records show. He is charged with battery that caused bodily harm, but the sheriff's office said it was still investigating and additional charges are possible. The sheriff's office did not release the names or ages of the boys who were involved in the incident.

Pharoah finishes workout

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah completed his final workout at Santa Anita before heading south to Del Mar racetrack. The Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont winner breezed 5 furlongs in 59.2 seconds on Sunday. Trainer Bob Baffert plans to ship American Pharoah to Del Mar, north of San Diego, today, along with several other horses in his stable ahead of that track's summer meet opener on Thursday. American Pharoah and jockey Martin Garcia sat behind two other horses working together on the backstretch before the champion moved past one on the outside coming out of the turn. It was the third timed workout for American Pharoah since June 6 when he became racing's first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. Baffert didn't indicate whether American Pharoah will work out over Del Mar's new dirt surface or when he will ship to Monmouth Park in New Jersey for his next start in the $1 million Haskell Invitational on Aug. 2.

California Chrome, who won the 2014 Kentucky Derby and went on to earn Horse of the Year honors, has a bruised cannon bone that will force him out of the Arlington Million and likely sideline him for the rest of the year. Trainer Art Sherman said Sunday on Twitter that X-rays revealed the injured bone that extends from the knee to the fetlock a day earlier. California Chrome has been at Arlington Park outside Chicago since Tuesday, when he arrived back in the U.S. from England. He was scheduled to run in the Arlington Million on Aug. 15. Sherman says the injury isn't life-threatening and the horse should be fine. California Chrome hasn't raced since a second-place finish in the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 28. After that he was sent to England and was scheduled to run twice there, but he never did. He developed a reported foot bruise while at Newmarket. California Chrome added the Preakness to his Derby win last year, but his Triple Crown bid was derailed in the Belmont, when he tied for fourth.

Bourdais rolls in Milwaukee

Sebastien Bourdais pulled away following a late caution to win Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile, his second IndyCar victory of the season. Bourdais was dominating before the caution flag came out on Lap 222 after Justin Wilson's car stalled. He held on when racing resumed for an 18-lap sprint to the finish, turning aside a brief challenge from second-place Helio Castroneves to win by 2.2 seconds. It was Bourdais' 34th career victory, and first at an oval since winning at Milwaukee in 2006. Castroneves had a remarkable run after starting last in the 24-car field. Graham Rahal was third.

Tony Schumacher earned his 80th career victory when he won the Top Fuel category on Sunday at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Ill. Schumacher secured his third victory of the season with a 3.844-second pass at 320.20 mph, beating Larry Dixon's 3.932 at 298.93 in the final round. The defending world champion is five victories from tying Pro Stock's Bob Glidden for third on the career victories list in any NHRA professional category. "That was a fun race," said Schumacher, who moved into the Top Fuel points lead with the win. "Our crews are so good and win so many races. There are no easy races. Just proud to be in the position we're in."

Tommy Johnson Jr. (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won at the NHRA series stop outside of Chicago. Allen Johnson secured his 25th career victory with a 6.624 at 209.88 in his Dodge Dart, outlasting Charlotte winner Larry Morgan's 6.667 at 210.18. Johnson moved within one victory of tying Lee Shepherd and Dave Connolly for ninth on the career Pro Stock victories list. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Arana Jr. defended his Chicago victory from last season with a 6.918 at 194.66 on his Buell, defeating two-time world champ Matt Smith in the final.

Nets, Bargnani agree

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a deal with former No. 1 pick Andrea Bargnani. Bargnani remains in New York after spending the last two seasons with the Knicks. He has struggled with injuries and appeared in just 29 games last season, averaging 14.8 points. Terms of the deal the Nets announced Sunday on Twitter were not disclosed. Bargnani hasn't played more than 35 games in a season since 2010-11 in Toronto, when he averaged a career-best 21.4 points. The Raptors, who drafted the Italian forward first overall in 2006, dealt him to the Knicks in the summer of 2013. Bargnani appeared in just 71 games over two seasons in New York. He becomes the second player to change teams in the city this offseason after Shane Larkin signed with Brooklyn.
