Gentry tornado gets preliminary EF-1 rating

GENTRY — The National Weather Service said a tornado touched down Friday evening in Northwest Arkansas. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Crews surveyed the area Friday. Preliminary findings rate the tornado as an EF-1, according to a post on Twitter from the service's Tulsa office.

Dispatch supervisor Marty Wunderle said the Benton County sheriff's office has received a report that one home was struck and suffered "fairly heavy" damage. But, he said, no one inside was hurt.

He said other damage reports include downed trees all over the county.
