Jimmy Fields played football and ran track for Springdale before attending Arkansas Tech, where he played baseball. Josh Fields was two-time all-state baseball player for the Bulldogs who played collegiately at Arkansas-Fort Smith and Southern Mississippi. He hit .444 with seven home runs and 40 RBIs as a senior at Springdale and .364 with 13 home runs and 64 RBIs as a sophomore at Arkansas-Fort Smith.

He said being voted into the Springdale Athletics Hall of Fame the same year as his father is particularly gratifying.

"He's pretty much the reason for any success I've had in sports," said Josh, who is an assistant baseball coach at Springdale Har-Ber. "We did a ton of work together beginning with T-ball. We're a baseball family, and it's awesome to receive this honor with him."

Being inducted into the Springdale Athletics Hall of Fame isn't the only good thing happening for Josh Fields. He helped Har-Ber to a successful season in baseball, and he's engaged to be married to Courtney Johnson of Fort Smith on Oct. 31.

Tickets for the banquet go on sale beginning July 13 for $15 per person or $110 for a table of eight. Those interested should call 479-750-1680 to reserve seats for the event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception.
