Hutchinson names 13 to workforce board

Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced the members of a newly formed board aimed at developing a long-term plan for developing jobs and industry through career education and workforce development.

The board is a sampling of people from various industries.

The Career Education and Workforce Development Board, which was created by Act 892 and replaced the State Board of Career Education at the Department of Career Education, has 13 members as well as ex officio members including the heads of various state agencies.

Named to the board:

• Scott Copas of Little Rock

• Jenifer Price of Springdale

• Troy Keeping of Marion

• Hugh McDonald of Little Rock

• Stacy Gunderman of Batesville

• Steven Collier of Augusta

• Adam Arroyos of Fayetteville

• Gina Radke of Sherwood

• Michael Garner of Hensley

• Dan Serrano of Lowell

• Jeff Standridge of Conway

• Burton Weis of Fort Smith

• Keith Vire of Fayetteville

The non-voting members of the board include Arkansas Department of Education Commissioner Johnny Key; Arkansas Department of Higher Education Director Brett Powell; Arkansas Community College Executive Director Bill Stovall; Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston; Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Director Daryl Bassett; Paul Beran of the Arkansas Association of Public Universities; and Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators Executive Director Richard Abernathy.
