Butler Center, Crystal Bridges team on education project

BENTONVILLE — The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies is teaming with the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and others to develop an education program using historic art and objects.

The program, with the U.S. State Department and the state Department of Education, will launch Wednesday night at the Crystal Bridges museum in Bentonville.

Teachers and school librarians will develop lesson plans that include historic art and objects, including material from the Butler Center in Little Rock. The Butler Center is part of the Central Arkansas Library System.

The program targets students in grades 7-12. It is part of an effort by the Diplomatic Reception Rooms at the State Department to increase understanding history, cultural heritage, diplomacy and civic engagement. Arkansas for the next year will work on civic engagement.
