U.S. Sen. John Boozman, a Republican from Rogers, met with Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert on Tuesday and with members of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership on Wednesday. On Saturday, he was scheduled to participate in the Bella Vista Fourth of July Patriot Parade.
U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, a Republican from Dardanelle, toured Arkansas Tech University campus in Russellville on Monday, meeting with university President Robin Bowen and members of her Executive Council. On Tuesday, he talked about technological research with faculty members after touring the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville campus. He also attend the Rogers Rotary Club Meeting on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he attended the Arkansas Electric Cooperatives board meeting in Little Rock.
On Monday, U.S. Rep. French Hill, a Republican from Little Rock, attended a breakfast in Fairfield Bay.
Monday, U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, a Republican from Rogers, spoke to the Harrison Kiwanis Club and visited the Boone County Special Services Work Activity Center; Tuesday, he visited Girls Inc. in Fort Smith and spoke at the Fort Smith Chamber Business2Business Luncheon; Wednesday, he visited General Mills' Rogers Facility and rode in the Rodeo of the Ozarks Parade; Thursday, he spoke to the Russellville Rotary. Womack visited Jamestown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rogers on Saturday.
On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, a Republican from Hot Springs, spoke with Mansfield Mayor Larry Austin, Mulberry Mayor Gary Baxter and Crawford County Judge John Hall before touring American Vegetable Soybean and Edamame, Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative in Ozark and meeting with Waldron Mayor Neil Cherry and Scott County Judge James Forbes.
C-SPAN CONFERENCE
Benton Junior High School social studies teacher Tamme Adams is one of 31 teachers from across the country chosen to attend C-SPAN Classroom's 2015 Educators' Conference in Washington July 13-14.
The conference teaches educators how to integrate C-SPAN's programs into classroom activities. The conference brings together high school teachers who specialize in social studies or technology. Adams competed with applicants from across the country to secure a place at the conference. C-SPAN provides the round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and meals for all selected attendees.
The cable network C-SPAN broadcasts public policy events, including coverage of the House and Senate floor, news conferences and announcements by the president.
EPA GRANT
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday that it had awarded $558,258 to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality to monitor fine particulate matter.
These particles are found in smoke and haze and measure 2.5 micrometers or less in diameter. The particles come from a variety of sources and affect the heart and lungs if they are inhaled.
The grant will help Environmental Quality Department conduct ambient air monitoring. The particles can be directly emitted from forest fires, or they can form when gases emitted from power plants, industries and automobiles react in the air.

On Thursday, Hill announced the he had awarded the Social Security Administration with his second Golden Fleece Award.
A recent Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General audit found that over a 10-year period, nearly 4 million beneficiaries of the administration's disability programs were provided an estimated $16.8 billion in overpayments.
PRELUDE TO 2016
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee campaigned in Hendersonville, N.C., on Monday, opened his Iowa headquarters Tuesday and attended several events in Iowa Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attended fundraisers in Massachusetts. On Saturday, she was scheduled to march in the Gorham Fourth of July parade in New Hampshire.
