Man gets 30-year term for child porn

A Sheridan man was convicted of 30 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing sexually explicit material involving a child, the Arkansas attorney general announced Thursday.

Bryan Mitchell Baker, 28, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted by a jury in Grant County Circuit Court on June 25, according to a news release from Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. Baker was sentenced June 26. In addition to the prison time, Baker must also register as a sex offender and enter a sex offender treatment program.

The investigation into Baker began in January 2014 when members of the Arkansas attorney general's office Cyber Crimes Unit found someone on a computer in the state was offering to help distribute child pornography. After tracing the IP address to Baker, officers executed a search warrant at his Sheridan home Feb. 6 and took a laptop, iPhone and an external hard drive.

After searching the laptop computer authorities found more than 30 videos and still images of child pornography, according to an arrest affidavit dated Feb. 7.
