ALMA -- After almost letting the game get away, Alma found a way at the end to beat Bryant.
Nathan Corder's three-point jumper with 35 second left gave the Airedales the lead for good as Alma held off Bryant 51-45 in a 7A/6A-Central game Friday at Airedale Arena.
Bryant (8-10, 2-3) seemed in control with 4:11 left, leading 45-38, but the Hornets went scoreless for the next four minutes and the Airedales (15-2, 4-1) went on a 11-0 run to regain control of the game.
Bryant's Wesley Peters missed a front end of a one-and-one with :57.2 left and the Hornets still ahead 45-44. Alma's Jake Folkerts grabbed the rebound, and the Airedales set up the game-winning possession.
Corder was open on the left wing when he made the jumper for a 47-45 Airedale edge. After a Bryant miss, Austin Lee was fouled and made both free throws for a 49-45 edge with :09.5 left.
After a Bryant basket, Lee was fouled again with :03.6 left and made both to clinch the game.
Alma led 24-22 at half, although Bryant had rallied from a 20-10 deficit with 5:15 left in the first half.
The Hornets opened the third quarter with a 15-3 run to take a 37-27 lead, keyed by Kevin Hunt's six points. Hunt led all scorers with 19 points.
Lee and Alex Beneux scored scored 11 to lead Alma, while William Cluck added 10, Romen Martin added 14 for Bryant.
