Blasting to begin for part of bypass

The blasting of rocks as part of the construction of the Bella Vista Bypass will begin Thursday on the west side of Peach Orchard Road in Benton County, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The blasting will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. several days per week for the next month about 2,000 feet from the road. Warning signs and safety personnel will be posted when the blasting takes place, the department said.

The blasting is part of the work to construct about 6 miles of the bypass from U.S. 71B to Arkansas 72 South. The project involves the initial two lanes of a four-lane facility.
