Washington County closing second bridge

Washington County announced Tuesday it would close the Woolsey Bridge on County Road 35, the second such announcement this week.

The bridge is south of West Fork, adjacent to U.S. 71. The county announced Monday it was closing Orr Bridge on County Road 67.

Both bridges were closed because of structural issues causing safety concerns, according to statements from the county.

The Woolsey Bridge, built in 1925, crosses the West Fork of the White River. The Orr Bridge, built in 1924, spans the Illinois River,
