After missing all six 3-point attempts and leading Rogers High by two at halftime, the Lady Wildcats hit all five 3-point attempts in the second half to pull away for a 62-51 victory over the Lady Mounties in the 7A-West Conference opener.

Har-Ber was 7-of-8 from the field to start the third quarter as the Lady Wildcats turned a 24-22 halftime lead into a 15-point lead at 45-30 with just over two minutes left in the third quarter.

"Hitting buckets sure makes a big difference," said Har-Ber coach Sandy Wright. 'I was real proud of us coming back in the third. One step at a time. Road wins are big because it is hard to win anywhere."

Paige Redmond hit three 3-pointers in the third period and another in the fourth period to lead Har-Ber with 17 points. Redmond scored 14 points in the second half. Bailey Schalk added 14 points for the Lady Wildcats.

"Redmond stepped up and she hit some big ones," Wright said. "She hit one step back three, and she has been working hard on that."

Rogers coach Preston Early said the Lady Wildcats third-quarter surge was too much to overcome. Brooke Sagely led Rogers with 19 points while Maddi McKinney came off the bench and scored nine points behind three second half 3-pointers.

"In the third quarter, they shot us out of the gym," Early said. "I told our guys that sometimes you just have to give the other team credit. Har-Ber made some plays, and they played to their talent level. I thought we gave them some trouble and we competed hard. We competed hard but the bottom line is productivity and Har-Ber put the ball in the hole."

The two teams played the first six minutes with a boys basketball and the Lady Wildcats led 11-4 when the switch was made.

Har-Ber (11-3, 1-0) took a 29-10 early in the second quarter but the Mounties responded with an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 29-21. Jake Benninghoff scored seven points during the run and his slam dunk after a steal cut the lead to six at 31-25 late in the second quarter before the Wildcats settled into a 35-28 halftime lead.
