Huntsville took control in the second quarter and easily defeated Lincoln 62-40 in a 4A-1 boys game at Charles Berry Gymnasium. Jose Aguilar scored 16 points to lead Huntsville (17-1, 4-0) while Shandon Goldman had 19 points to lead the Wolves (9-7, 1-3).

Huntsville began to pull away in the second quarter when the Eagles outscored Lincoln 21-4. Four different players scored in the second quarter for Huntsville, which received balanced production with four players contributing at least nine points. Aguilar repeatedly backed in and made bank shots while mostly being guarded by Goldman, a 6-foot-9 senior. His power move to the basket began a surge than included 3-pointers by Caleb Kirk and Christian Cain.

Huntsville led 34-18 at halftime and 46-28 after three quarters.

"Jose has gotten so much better," said Huntsville coach Jim Stafford, who won his 1,000th senior high boys game against Paris last week. "He's got a big wide body and he can shoot the ball. He wasn't intimidated at all (by Goldman).

Goldman was the lone offensive threat for the Wolves, who have only two players listed over 6-foot-2 on its roster. Goldman scored inside and out, but he was the only Lincoln player to score in double figures.

"Biggie does a great job and he stepped up again tonight," Lincoln coach Tim Rich said. "He never has a free moment out there and we've got to get some other players involved. We've got some kids who can shoot, but they've got to step up and do it in a game."

Goldman made two free throws to start the second half for Lincoln, but Huntsville answered with 3-pointers by River Gosvener and Jack Eaton. Roni Castaneda and Garrett Blankenship scored consecutive baskets for Lincoln before Aguilar made another power move to put Huntsville ahead 45-25 with two minutes, 39 seconds left in the third quarter.

Chandler Sone scored 14 points to lead Huntsville past Lincoln.

Miranda Campbell and Shelbi McCartney added eight points each for Huntsville (13-4, 3-1), which led held Lincoln to two points in the second quarter to lead 19-8 at halftime.

Huntsville was sluggish to start the second half when Lincoln pulled to within 19-12. But the Lady Eagles warmed up behind 3-pointers by Campbell, Sone, and McCartney to lead 32-18 after three quarters.
