"We had a good practice today, and I think the kids knew they didn't put their best foot forward (Friday against Claremore) and they responded well today," Siloam Springs coach Tim Stewart said. "That was the challenge. Good teams mess up, but they respond. I thought we saw that tonight."
The Mounties (5-8) were playing shorthanded Saturday. Rogers was already missing senior guard Josh Boaz, who is out for the season with a foot injury. The Mounties were also missing junior forward Daniel Salvador, who suffered a head injury Friday in the Mounties' loss against Tulsa NOAH.
"I knew it was going to be a tough game for sure because Coach Stewart's teams play really hard, and I know they were not happy with their performance (Friday) night," Rogers coach Wayne Herren said. "But we're not making any excuses on our side. We just came out and tried to play the best game we can."
Brandon Johnson and Keetun Pierce scored baskets for Siloam Springs and Tucker Gambill hit two consecutive 3-pointers for a 10-0 lead.
The Panthers went ahead 36-17 at halftime after outscoring the Mounties 17-9 in the second quarter. Roman Lambert hit a 3-pointer at the top of the key, and Tyler Newton had a three-point play.
