Where I live: I live in Pea Ridge in a neighborhood called Maple Glen. The houses are all brick and they're all ranch houses. They're just sturdy, low-maintenance homes, and we like that. It was our first home. My husband and I are both from big cities. I'm from Atlanta, and he's from Phoenix. We just loved the idea of kind of being out in the country but still being close enough to everything. It's so quiet out here. I love the idea that all we have is a four-way stop. We don't have a traffic light.
Occupation: Volunteer coordinator at Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. It's a great job. I get to tell everybody about our kids and what we do, and see if I can't get people to come out and work with the children. We have volunteers who come out and help them with their homework or even something as simple as teaching them to tie their shoes or brush their teeth.
Favorite space: My kitchen.
Why? When my husband and I got married, I wasn't a very good cook so I never thought I'd say that. We just really enjoy it. My husband and I have learned to cook over the years. My favorite date night is to try some new recipe, go get all the ingredients, stay home and cook. I love good food. My husband is a really good cook.
If I could do one thing to improve the space, I would: Add a gas stove and an island.
