Lenten Programs

BENTON COUNTY

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a Lenten study at 3 p.m. each Thursday through Lent. The study, “What Wondrous Love,” is a presentation of the story of Holy Week by the Rev. Liz Wagner, associate pastor. Study books are $5.

The church serves weekly Lenten soup suppers at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $3. A canned-food drive will support the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, presents weekly services for Lent at 11:45 a.m. each Wednesday until Easter. A luncheon will be served after each service.

of the Cross

St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, follows the Stations of the Cross at noon each Friday through Lent and on Good Friday.

Passover

Lost Bridge Community Church in Garfield, 20650 Oak Ridge Dr., presents “Christ in the Passover” at 6:30 p.m. March 30. A representative of Jews for Jesus will recreate the traditional Jewish Passover meal and service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus’ death and resurrection. The meal is free, but reservations are requested.

Easter Egg Hunt

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, sponsors an Easter egg hunt for children through sixth grade from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 21. A pancake breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m.

BENTON COUNTY

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., showcases Undercroft, its new youth area, in an open house after its 9:30 a.m. worship service.

The church observes First Fruits Sunday this week with donations of nonperishable food or money to support local food banks.

The church plans a Parents Night Out from 4 to 8 p.m. March 14.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, begins a nineweek class on living with the experiences of grief from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday. The group is facilitated by Brenda Wideman, ministerial intern. Donations of $10 for materials are welcome.

The United Methodist Men meet for dinner March 11 in Becker Hall. Member John Rice shares tales from his 3,600-mile bicycle trp from San Diego to Florida.

Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road, plans a community open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 7 in the new student and children’s center. A barbecue lunch is provided.

The church offers, “Discovery,” a three-week program to learn more about the church, at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. each Sunday, beginning March 8.

The church presents Brother Yun, author of “Heavenly Man,” speaking at 6:30 p.m. March 9. The evening is part of the Bless Your Enemies Tour sponsored by Back to Jerusalem, dedicated to a mission movement in the Chinese Christian church.

Joppa House of Prayer in Rogers, 1225 W. Hudson Road, offers a one-day healing school from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28. Sandy and Wayne Warmack of Greater Works Ministries lead the training from the John G. Lake and Joan Hunter ministries. Topics include: Who you are in Jesus, understanding personal power according to Scripture, ways to minister healing, New Covenant versus Old Covenant and self-healing. An offering will be taken, and ministry resources will be available for a small donation. Registration is suggested.

The John J. Lake Healing Room is open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday. A Scripture-based team is available to minister healing to individuals.

Bella Vista United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, presents Carole Harter speaking at 10 a.m. March 7 to the Singles United group. Harter is a descendant of the Linebarger family, who built the resort area of Bella Vista in the early 1900s. She will speak on the early days of Bella Vista and features in the Bella Vista Historical Museum. Games follow.

The Breakfast Fellowship meets at 9 am. March 9 in Luther Hall.
