With inspiration from Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly and Eleanor Powell, among others, Broadway veterans Joan Hess and Kirby Ward will be "Dancing and Romancing" with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Associate Conductor Geoffrey Robson, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Pulaski Academy's Connor Performing Arts Center, 12701 Hinson Road, Little Rock. The combination Broadway-Hollywood program is part of the orchestra's Acxiom Pops Live! Series; concert sponsor is the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Happy hour doesn't get much more stylish than Fashion Hour at the Capital, 5-7 p.m. today at the Capital Hotel, 111 W. Markham St., Little Rock. 4 CONTEMPORARY

The Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock will present contemporary works by Arkansas artists with two new exhibits opening Friday. In "John Harlan Norris: Public Face," Arkansas State University art professor Norris uses uniforms and tools to put a twist on traditional portraits, on display through May 3. Little Rock artist Lisa Krannichfeld was influenced by South American and Chinese cultures to create "She," open through April 5. There will be a reception for both exhibits with music by Whale Fire, 5-8 p.m. Friday. Regular hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. 5 COLOR

Bright spots of color will cover the Arkansas Arts Center's Samuel Strauss Sr. Gallery at Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock, when the Mid-Southern Watercolorists Juried Exhibition opens Friday. The exhibit, now in its 45th year, will contain 30 works chosen by guest juror Linda Baker and will continue through April 12. 6 'CLIMB (EVERY MOUNTAIN)'

The Weekend Theater, West Seventh and Chester streets, Little Rock, will be alive with The Sound of Music (music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp), 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday through March 1, with special performances at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 26. 7 COMMEMORATE

Anonymous 4 (Ruth Cunningham, Marsha Genensky, Jaqueline Horner-Kwiatek and Susan Hellauer), on their farewell tour, will perform songs from their latest and presumably last album, 1865: Songs of Hope and Home From the American Civil War, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock. 8 CLASSICAL

The Borromeo String Quartet -- Kristopher Tong and Nicholas Kitchen, violins; Mai Motobuchi, viola; and Yeesun Kim, cello -- concludes a two-day residency at the University of Central Arkansas with a concert at 7:30 p.m. today in the Snow Fine Arts Center at UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The program: violinist Kitchen's transcription of the Passacaglia and Fugue in c minor, BWV 582, by Johann Sebastian Bach; the String Quartet No. 4 by Bela Bartok; and the String Quartet No. 15 in G major, D. 887, by Franz Schubert.
