Elise Randels and Brooke Sagely each finished with 10 points for Rogers (8-14, 2-7 7A-West). Randels scored eight points in the second half, including 5 of 6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter as Rogers outscored Heritage 16-5 the final eight minutes

"That was our best free throw performance of the year," Rogers coach Preston Early said. "We did a fantastic job of coming through under pressure. We didn't miss any free throws that we needed to have. We really needed this."

Rogers took the lead for good when sophomore Maddie McKinney hit a 3-pointer for a 34-32 lead with 2:04 left in the game. Repella then put the game away with four straight free throws over a a 40-second span for a 38-33 lead. Randels canned two more from the line with 3.2 seconds left.

"Maddi's shot was huge," Early said. "I just thought we got a lot of key contributions from a lot of different players."

Emilie Jobst led Heritage (9-13, 2-7) with 12 points while Sara Giesen added 11. The Lady War Eagles didn't score a field goal the final 11:03 of the game after missing their final eight shots, including a 3-point attempt that would have tied the game with 16 seconds left.

"Give Rogers credit for the job they did defensively," said Heritage coach Kevin Ramey. "We had a lead going down the stretch, but Rogers made plays. Rogers hit a couple of big shots and they got to the foul line. We got a good look at the end, but it didn't go down."
