Fayetteville library to loan Wi-Fi hotspots

The Fayetteville Public Library will begin offering mobile Wi-Fi hotspots for checkout Thursday, according to a news release.

“Here in our community nearly 26% of our households do not have high speed," David Johnson, executive director of the library, said in the news release, “The library is excited to offer this service to our cardholders.”

The devices allow users to connect to the Internet over AT&T's 4G LTE network. Each of the 10 devices has unlimited data and cost $39.95 per month, according to the news release.

Five of them will be available for checkout with a laptop. The program is paid for by $7,200 in sponsorship from library supporters.

The devices will be available to library card holders who are at least 18 years old with no outstanding library fees. One person per household can check out a device for up to two weeks.
