USAO (5-13, 4-7 SAC) shot a sizzling 57 percent (30 of 53) from the floor and trailed only briefly early in snapping a three-game losing streak and winning for the first time in nine tries on the road.

Guard Martens Charles led five Drovers in double figures with 26 points on seven-of-10 shooting. John Brown struggled to stay in front of the 5-11 junior, who also made 12 of 15 from the free-throw line. Ed'Lexus Collier added 19 off the bench. Jerry Coriolan chipped in 12, Ahmir Bailey scored 11 and Donnie Brown 10.

Science & Arts coach Doug Hall the victory was a good step for his program.

"We played a really tough nonconference schedule and couldn't get one," Hall said. "It's tough to win on the road in college basketball and the SAC's one of the best league's in the country. We got to the basket some and got some matchups we liked."

But the bottom line was the way the Drovers shot the ball, Hall said.

"We are not really a great shooting team and tonight we made shots," Hall said. "This is our high point for the year. If we get out of the 60s it's good for us."

John Brown coach Jason Beschta wasn't pleased with his team's defensive effort he said that was the difference in the game.

"It was clearly no focus on our part on defense tonight," Beschta said. "It's hard to get them to buy in on ever possession and we have to care and we didn't play that way.. There isn't a team we can play like that against."

D.J. Feitl led JBU (13-9, 5-5) with a game-high 27. Max Hopfgartner added 21 and Griffin Brady was in double figures with 16.

John Brown (9-13, 4-7) jumped to a 26-7 lead less than 10 minutes into the first half, but finally put away the Drovers (6-13, 3-8) with a 10-0 second-half spurt.

Five different Golden Eagles hit 3-pointers as JBU jumped in front early, but USAO pushed back to get within 39-28 early in the second half. But John Brown held the Drovers scoreless for seven minutes to pull away.

Sofia Mendoza, a 6-5 junior, led all scorers with 14 points off the bench for JBU. She also added a game-high 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. Brooke Barker chipped in 11 points and Morgan Ankrom 10 for the Golden Eagles.
