Paint the Town Red at the Fayetteville Town Center that same night drew a sold-out crowd of 1,000 guests who helped the nonprofit group surpass its fundraising goal of netting $205,000, bringing in a net total of more than $215,000.
Decor at the event incorporated the works of local artists Sasha Rayevskiy, Beckett Byars, Eli Mathis, Matt Miller and Tolik Rayevskiy.
Guests had the opportunity to sample tastes from a number of area restaurants that included Flying Burrito, Noodles, The Hive, Hog Haus, IDK? Cafe, JJs Grille, Marley's Pizzeria, Taziki's, Rick's Bakery, Mimi's Cafe and Mojo's Pints and Pies.
A silent, mobile auction allowed guests to be notified via cellphone when they had been outbid, an alternative to the table stalking seen at many a silent auction.
The event designed for philanthropic young professionals kicks off a series of spring fundraisers for the nonprofit organization who's mission is "building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke." Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 killers in the United States.
Next up for the group is Go Red for Women on Feb. 10, featuring Kelley Earnhardt Miller; Northwest Arkansas Heart Walk on April 11; and the 2015 Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball on May 9.
Among those painting the town red were Megan Crozier and Richard Appleton, Lindsey and Mark Stavely, Sean Corbin, Laura Berger, Josh Saffron, Roy Wright, Leah Bach, Huey Couch, Phyllis Brady, Mandy Macke, Carrie DeBriyn, Toni and Chris Bahn, Jamie Davis, Carrie Moore and Suzy and Chuck Fehlig.
Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale welcomed visitors Thursday evening to mark the beginning of "Out of the Darkroom."
The exhibition is the product of a five-year effort of Don House, noted Northwest Arkansas photographer, who selected the images in the show from the more than 500,000 in the museum's archive. The images span decades and give museum visitors a glimpse into life in Northwest Arkansas through the years.
House told those gathered for the reception, "The photos are random. I tried to represent all the periods in the archives" and assured us, "You're going to fall in love with people from the past."
Among those attending the reception were Sabine Schmidt, Mary Vaughn, Cindy Arsaga, Allyn Lord, Susan Young, Marie Demeroukas, Marty Powers, David Beauchamp, April Rusch, Sally Walker and Jonathan Perrodin.
