A former prison chaplain — out on bond after being charged with 50 counts of sexual assault involving female inmates — was arrested Tuesday on a domestic-abuse charge involving his wife.

Kenneth Dewitt is being held in the Jackson County jail, Henry Boyce, prosecuting attorney for Arkansas’ 3rd Judicial Circuit, said Wednesday.

Dewitt was out on $35,000 bond set Dec. 17 on 50 counts of third-degree sexual assault involving female inmates at the McPherson Unit for Women in Newport, where he worked as a chaplain for numerous years.

Third Judicial District Circuit Judge Harold Erwin has issued a warrant to revoke that bond.
