Mays-Hunt makes smooth transition

Kam’Ron Mays-Hunt was in awe of his new surroundings when he moved to Bentonville from White Hall in April. The transition to a new football team was much simpler for the sophomore receiver, who wound up leading the Tigers in touchdown receptions this season.

That transition took a little bit longer than expected because Mays-Hunt suffered a hip injury and couldn’t participate in Bentonville’s spring workouts. He caught on fast, however, and he turned his second reception into a 25-yard touchdown play in the Tigers’ win over Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst. Mays-Hunt (6-foot-1, 162 pounds) joined Clay Barganier to give Bentonville a formidable one-two punch at receiver, and both of them were all-conference selection. Mays-Hunt finished the season with 53 receptions for 556 yards and seven touchdowns, and he was also utilized as a kick returner and as a defensive back during the Tigers’ playoff run.

He is this year’s All-NWADG Newcomer of the Year.
