2-car crash kills Heber Springs man, 90

State police reports detail deaths of 3 related to accidents earlier in month

A Heber Springs man died Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Cleburne County, Arkansas State Police said.

Douglas Peikert, 90, of Heber Springs was driving a 2006 Lincoln south on Arkansas 25 when the vehicle entered the right shoulder, overcorrected and crossed the centerline, striking a 2013 Nissan traveling north, state police reported.

Peikert was killed in the crash, which occurred at 9:15 a.m. Monday near Water Tower Road north of Heber Springs, according to state police.

The driver of the Nissan, Bruce Robus, 66, and a passenger in the Nissan, Helen Robus, 70, both of Heber Springs were injured in the wreck and taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, state police said.

It was cloudy and the road was wet at the time of the collision, according to state police.

Also on Monday, state police said a Paragould man died Dec. 6 after being struck by a 1994 Freightliner in Greene County on Dec. 1.

Jerry Davenport, 55, of Paragould was walking on U.S. 412 when he was hit by the Freightliner, which was traveling east on the highway, according to state police.

The accident occurred at 6:49 p.m. Dec. 1 at U.S. 412 and Arkansas 135, state police reported.

Davenport was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he died Dec. 6, state police said.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time, according to state police.

State police also reported that a Prescott man died Saturday from injuries suffered in a Dec. 13 wreck in Nevada County.

Ricky Woodberry Jr., 27, of Prescott was a passenger in a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro traveling south on U.S. 371 when the car crossed the centerline and hit a northbound 1999 Ford F250, state police said.

Woodberry, who was ejected in the wreck, died Saturday at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, according to state police.

The driver of the Camaro, Scotty E. Cochran, 18, of Hope, along with the driver of the Ford, Harvey Anders, 45, and a passenger in the Ford, Christopher C. Anders, 23, both of Ida, La., were injured and taken to Christus St. Michael Hospital, state police reported.

The wreck occurred at 3:42 p.m. Dec. 13 at U.S. 371 and C Street, according to state police.

It was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash, state police said.

State police also reported Saturday that a Texas man died Dec. 13 in a motorcycle wreck in Miller County.

Casey Jim Murray, 57, of Linden, Texas, was driving a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle north on Arkansas 237 when he failed to negotiate a curve and the motorcycle left the road and struck a tree, state police said.

Murray was pronounced dead at the scene, state police reported.

The report doesn't specify what time the wreck occurred Dec. 13.

It was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash, state police reported.
