FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas linebacker Dre Greenlaw was named Wednesday to The Sporting News freshman All-America team.

Greenlaw, who was playing safety at Fayetteville High School last year, earned SEC All-Freshman team honors last week. He was also named the SEC's defensive freshman of the year by Athlon Sports.

Greenlaw, who played in all 12 games and started the final 10, recorded 93 tackles to lead all SEC freshmen and rank fifth nationally.

The 6-0, 222-pounder led the Razorbacks in tackles in half of his games as a starter. Greenlaw earned SEC freshman of the week honors for his 16 tackles in Arkansas' 54-46 four-overtime victory against Auburn. In the Razorbacks' 31-14 victory at LSU on Nov. 14, Greenlaw accounted for 12 tackles, his first career sack and a forced fumble that led to Arkansas' third touchdown to pull down his second SEC freshman of the week honors.

Henry wins again

Tight end Hunter Henry was named a first-team All-American on Wednesday by the American Football Coaches Association.

Henry, a junior from Little Rock's Pulaski Academy, is well on his way to consensus All-America status, having already been named a first-team selection by The Associated Press, the Walter Camp Foundation and The Sporting News.

Mackey, who led all FBS tight ends with 647 receiving yards, also won the Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's top tight end. Arkansas is the only school in the nation with two winners of the Mackey Award. D.J. Williams won it after the 2010 season.

Henry has caught a pass in 22 consecutive games, the longest active streak among SEC tight ends. He has converted 89 of his 111 career catches into a first down or a touchdown.

Henry is one of eight tight ends in SEC history with 100 or more receptions. With 1,569 career receiving yards, he joined Williams (1,855) and Chris Gragg (1,003) as Arkansas tight ends to break the 1,000-yard mark.

Malone on board

Northwest Mississippi Community College offensive lineman Terrance Deion Malone was announced Wednesday as the first signee of Arkansas' 2016 signing class, with Malone joining the program on the first day of the junior college signing period.

The 6-4, 300-pound lineman, who helped Northwest Mississippi to an 11-1 record and the NJCAA national championship, picked Arkansas over interest from Mississippi State, Memphis, East Carolina and Southern Miss. Malone is expected to enroll in January and participate in spring practices.

"Deion is another example of a young man who has had success on and off the field," Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. "He will join us in January for school and drills that should have an immediate impact on the interior offensive line."
