2 killed in crashes on state roadways

Two people have died from injuries received in separate single-vehicle crashes on Arkansas roads, Arkansas State Police reported.

A Scott man was fatally injured Dec. 2 when his vehicle left the road, hit several signs and then overturned in Pulaski County, according to a crash reported released Wednesday.

Theodore Bessette Jr., 52, was driving a 2002 Infiniti south on Arkansas 161 at 12:47 p.m. near Toltec Road when the crash occurred, the report said.

Bessette was taken to Baptist Health in Little Rock and was pronounced dead on Dec. 5.

A Lepanto woman died Thursday after her 2011 Ford Focus left the road, hit a ditch and overturned in Poinsett County, according to a crash report.

Sheri Elrod Foster, 48, was driving south on Arkansas 140 at 12:45 a.m. when the vehicle left the road. Foster was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

At the time of both crashes, the weather was clear and roads were dry.
