North Little Rock man arrested in beating at Waffle House

A man was arrested early Monday in a beating at a North Little Rock restaurant, police reported.

Officers responded about 1:50 a.m. to Waffle House at 2505 McCain Blvd. They found Pedro Omar Baez-Esperanza, 30, holding a metal chair and standing over a bloodied James Corn, according to an arrest report. Corn had multiple cuts and bruises to his head.

Witnesses said Baez-Esperanza had walked into the restaurant and attacked Corn, the report states. He purportedly punched Corn multiple times before striking him with the chair.

Further circumstances of the attack were unclear.

Baez-Esperanza struck a window with the chair before officers used pepper spray to subdue him, according to the report. He was charged with second-degree battery, third-degree assault, refusal to submit to arrest and second-degree criminal mischief.

Baez-Esperanza was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Monday.
