Separate crashes kill 2 on state roadways

Two people died in separate crashes Thursday in Crittenden and Yell counties, Arkansas State Police reported.

Michelle Greeno, 52, of Weiner was a passenger in a 1999 Ford Ranger traveling north on Interstate 55 in Crittenden County. The driver of a 2009 Volvo traveling in the same direction drove onto the shoulder at 11:17 a.m. The driver over-corrected and the Volvo struck the Ranger.

Greeno was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police reported four other people in the Ranger were injured. Samuel Mayberry, 57; Johnny Lindsey, 65; and Kellye Faulkner, 41, all of Harrisburg, and John Lindsey, 31, of McCrory were taken to Regional One Health in Memphis for treatment.

State police said debris from the crash struck a northbound Hyundai Elantra, but no one in that vehicle was reported injured. A crash report did not identify the Volvo driver.

Earlier Thursday, a woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Arkansas 10 in Yell County. Ashley Ramirez, 25, of Ola was driving a 2006 Lincoln Navigator east on the highway when an 18-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline and struck her vehicle at 9:41 a.m.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was not identified in a crash report.

Conditions were clear and dry when both crashes occurred, according to state police.
