Prosecutor's father ticketed

Tom Tatum Sr., a deputy prosecutor for the 15th Judicial District, was cited last weekend with driving while intoxicated.

Tatum, 74, is the father of Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum Jr. of Danville. The 15th Judicial District is composed of Logan, Scott and Yell counties.

Tom Tatum Sr., listed on the citation as John T. Tatum, was not in his law office and was not available for comment.

Tom Tatum Jr. declined to comment on the citation.

According to the citation filed in Scott County District Court, Tom Tatum Sr. was stopped by an Arkansas State Police trooper at 9:52 p.m. Nov. 28 on Arkansas 80 in Waldron, the Scott County seat.

The citation listed the charge as driving while intoxicated, first offense. It showed his blood-alcohol content registered a level of 0.12 percent. A person with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher is considered intoxicated in Arkansas.

Tom Tatum Sr. was taken to the Scott County sheriff's office to take the breath test, sheriff's Chief Deputy Billy Carnahan said Monday.

He said Tom Tatum Sr. was released without being booked into the jail and he got a ride home. His vehicle, listed on the citation as a 2016 Ford F250, was towed, Carnahan said.

The ticket showed Tom Tatum Sr. is scheduled to appear in district court at 9 a.m. Jan. 20.
