Lakes get rainbow trout

Lakes Bentonville and Springdale were stocked Nov. 19 with rainbow trout for cool-season fishing.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocked 1,500 trout in Lake Springdale and 750 in Lake Bentonville. Both lakes will be restocked periodically through February, said Melissa Jones, cold-water coordinator with Game and Fish.

Five trout in each lake carry tags that anglers may redeem for prizes. Call Game and Fish at the number on the tag to claim the prize.

Rogers offers bike classes

Rogers Activity Center will offer free beginner and intermediate mountain biking instruction for children, teenagers and their parents Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The first class is Saturday.

Classes are open to riders age 10-19 and their parents. Instruction is at the activity center, 315 W. Olive St., and at Railyard Bike Park at Arkansas and Cherry streets.

Anglers win at tournament

Lance McCratic and Bobby Price won the Swepco Lake winter series bass tournament held Nov. 21 with five largemouth bass that weighed 17.05 pounds.

Tyler Majors and Derek Luper were second with five bass at 15.7 pounds. Matt Pennington and James Maxwell place third with five bass at 13.98 pounds. Scotty Paron and Jason Wedell placed fourth with five bass at 13.48 pounds.

Preston Scarrow and Travis Scarrow had big bass at 4.18 pounds.

Most fish were caught with swim baits and Alabama rigs, said James Whittle, tournament director.

Aububon hosts trip, meeting

The Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will hold a field trip and annual membership meeting Saturday.

The field trip is at 10 a.m. at Dam Site park on Beaver Lake. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m. at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area visitor center. Dr. Joanie Patterson will give a program on tropical birds of Trinidad and Tobago.

All are welcome on the field trip and at the meeting.

Hike explores museum trails

Hill ‘N Dale Hikers will hike the trails at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville on Wednesday.

Meet at 9 a.m. at the overflow parking area near Southeast J Street. Lunch after the hike is at Pedaler’s Pub in Bentonville.

Ernst to show photos

Tim Ernst will give a presentation of photos from his new book, “A Rare Quality of Light: Forty Years of Wilderness Photography” at 1 p.m., Saturday at the Bentonville Public Library.

Photos are from the United States, Canada, Iceland and the Virgin Islands. Arkansas scenes are part of the presentation.
