Hillis, Jones to speak at TD Club

Former Arkansas Razorback running backs Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones will be the guest speakers at today’s Little Rock Touchdown Club luncheon at the Embassy Suites hotel in Little Rock.

Hillis rushed for 960 yards, 4.7 yards per carry, and scored 12 touchdowns in 2004-2007. Jones rushed for 2,954 yards, 7.6 yards per carry, and scored 20 touchdowns in 2006-2007.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and the program will begin at 11:50 a.m. Admission is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

Late goal lifts UCA

Ashley Smith’s goal in the 56th minute lifted the Central Arkansas women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday in Conway. Smith’s goal, her first of the season, came on a cross from Kristen Ricks. UCA (2-2) held a 15-9 advantage in shots, 13 coming in the second half.

ASU loses at home

Harriett Withers’ goal in the 81st minute broke a tie game and handed Murray State a 3-2 victory over Arkansas State on Sunday in Jonesboro.

Withers’ goal came seven minutes after ASU’s Ava Abner scored to tie the game at 2-2. The Red Wolves (1-3) had taken a 1-0 lead on Jacqueline Greer’s goal in the 36th minute. But Murray State (2-1) tied it at 1-1 with a goal in the 38th minute by Racheal Foxley, and a took a 2-1 lead when Destiny White scored in the 71st minute.

Murray State held a 22-6 edge in shots.

OU opens up on UALR

UALR (2-2) held Oklahoma scoreless for 40 minutes Sunday in Norman, Okla., but the Sooners scored four goals in the final 50 minutes of a 4-0 victory.

Rasha Roberts scored in the 28th minute to give Oklahoma (2-2) a 1-0 lead at halftime, then Rachel Ressler scored in the 50th minute, Liz Keester scored in the 75th minute and Laura Rayfield scored in the 83rd minute.

Oklahoma held a 29-2 advantage in shots, 20 coming in the second half.
