FAYETTEVILLE -- Mrs. M. J. Coleman, mother of Mrs. Mamie Hamlin, under arrest at Jackson, Tenn., refused to discuss her daughter's case when seen here this afternoon. Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Hamlin and the latter's two sons came here from Oklahoma about two months ago and Mrs. Hamlin left here about a month ago. Little is known of the family here. A local physician, who treated one of Mrs. Hamlin's sons for a slight injury soon after they came here, said Mrs. Hamlin told him she was anxious for the boy's speedy recovery, as she wished to go to Kentucky to visit a wealthy and eccentric old aunt, who had bequeathed her a large estate.

• A week into the new school year, school districts across Arkansas have questions about the state's new nutrition and physical fitness standards, particularly with how those rules will affect existing vending contracts. On Aug. 8, the state Board of Education approved new standards that, among other things, restrict the sales of foods and beverages that compete with federally approved cafeteria meals. Tom Kimbrell, executive director of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators, said that in the days leading up to the start of school, administrators contacted him about the rules.
