Fort Smith police spokesman Sgt. Daniel Grubbs said police were looking for Brandon Mathis in the shooting of Gustavo Delgado, 28, about 11:30 a.m. Thursday in an alley behind 2100 N. I St.

Delgado was undergoing surgery at a Fort Smith hospital Thursday afternoon, Grubbs said.

He said Mathis and Delgado and their girlfriends, who were not named, had been feuding.

Mathis and his girlfriend went to Delgado's home, where the two pairs confronted each other in the alley, Grubbs said. Delgado was armed with a golf club, while Mathis had a 9mm handgun, Grubbs added.

As the four argued, he said, Mathis pulled out the gun and shot Delgado several times. Delgado's girlfriend was not injured.

Mathis and his girlfriend fled in a white four-door Ford Crown Victoria, Grubbs said.

Mathis was described as white, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 to 140 pounds.
